Timur York is an American conceptual artist who examines ideas that define and influence contemporary society.
Born in the former U.S.S.R, Timur immigrated to the United States in 1995, settling in New York city. Later, to underscore his strong affinity for New York, he fused part of his adopted city's name into his own, reflecting
both a tribute and a state of one's own personal identity as an American citizen of a foreign origin.
Self-taught as an artist since a young age, upon his arrival to the U.S., he attended the Art Students League of New York before being admitted to the acclaimed Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, where he graduated with multiple awards in visual arts.
After graduation, wishing to explore various forms of the visual language, he enrolled at the School of Visual Arts to pursue Graphic Arts. Drawing upon both, his Fine Art and Design backgrounds enables him to connect the two different yet related disciplines in pursuit of new forms of artistic expressions and ideas.
Timur's work is on permanent public display at Georgetown University Medical Center, Washington, D.C.
