The "Courageous Heart" Symbol in Support of Ukraine: CourageousHeart.Art

Picture
When Russia attacked Ukraine on February 24, 2022, not only did it unjustly invade a sovereign country, but it also violated principles of the civilized world, built upon mutual trust, stability and cooperation.

Many thought it would be a matter of weeks until Ukraine was eventually overpowered by a bigger invading power. But the world was quickly galvanized by the immense courage and the fighting spirit of the Ukrainian people in the fight for their land and national identity. They were not going anywhere, but forward and into the battlefield.

Moved and inspired by the Ukrainians’ fierce and patriotic love for their country, I created a symbol, that to me conceptually captured what I was witnessing in the news reports. The art is in the form of Hard Enamel Pins and Screen Prints. To help support the country in these dire times, 50% of the proceeds will go to trustworthy charities that are working to help Ukraine and its people to survive, and eventually thrive.

Benefiting organizations are:
UNICEF
Razom For Ukraine

World Central Kitchen

COVID-19 Public Service Announcements

Wishing to contribute to the efforts of eradicating the current Pandemic crisis, I had created these public service designs to visually reinforce life-saving recommendations. The works are donations. If you are interested in using them for public good, or know someone who might, please reach out to me for customizable sizes to fit any digital or print applications.

Social Distancing

In the wake of an unprecedented threat from a novel Coronavirus COVID-19 Pandemic, Americans are being directed to stay home and follow medical guidelines to help keep them safe and healthy.

The inspirational design presented here, reinforces this message with clarity and a sense of patriotism, to take the situation seriously, and in a visually bold way.

Viral Kindness

As millions of people across the county and the world struggle not only with the direct effects of the virus on their health and their families, but also overcoming psychological and economical challenges, it is crucially important to be kind towards one another.

This design, strives to appeal to the core of our humanity and inspire everyone to spread love. The image takes the familiar shape of the virus, while eliminating the fear by reconstructing it out of multitude of hearts. In essence, visualizing the concept of viral love and kindness.

Mass School Shootings

'Never Again' Poster in support of victims of mass school shootings, in the USA

There have been a rise in the number of mass school shootings, involving military grade weapons in the United States in recent years. This art was motivated by such events, as well as the movement that was born out of Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida. That tragedy claimed the lives of 17 people. The brave survivors grouped together and started the #NeverAgain movement that has swept the nation and inspired millions to join in support of sensible gun laws.

This poster meant to further the message of improving our national gun laws and minimize senseless acts of shooting violence involving semi-automatic weapons by civilians, in particular.

"Triumph of Life"
Dedicated on October 15, 2001
Bronze on Concrete
Georgetown University Medical Center, Washington, D.C.

"Triumph of Life" is the representation of the beauty of the organic world in its purest form. It is the depiction of Nature's own nature – raw, wild, unpredictable, full of surprises, and above all possessing dynamism that will never cease to exist. It is Life itself that always finds its way to the surface despite endless trials and hardships.

Very special thanks to Greg Wyatt, a celebrated American sculptor and engine of the project, as well as his team of artisans: Peter and Sachika. To contemporary sculptor Joseph Petrovics, for his tireless help and guidance throughout the process. And to the Georgetown University Medical Center community for their supportive vision, open hearts and minds in relation to art's restorative effect on patients, students and staff on the GUMC Campus. And of course to many more people who supported the project through their generous donations, time and effort.

Signed Limited Edition Screen Print
Edition of 12
24 x 16, 100% Cotton Rag

Following Japan's devastating Earthquake and Tsunami on March 11, 2011, I, along with multitudes of people across the world felt a powerful urge to somehow help the tragedy-stricken nation. Being an artist with a keen sense of social awareness had resulted in the development of this poster. Created on a third day of the tragedy, the work captures the sense of our collective heart-felt emotions and efforts on behalf of Japan and its Peoples. It is both a Japanese flag and a universal symbol of Love and Care that unites us as humans from all walks of life, across the World and cultures.
